Village Care

Village Care is your local registered charity providing help for people in need

Village Care is of vital importance to the local community and for the patients of Aldborough Surgery, it enables transport to be provided to those who are unable to attend hospital and surgery appointments, due to being unable to drive or have mobility problems.

Village Care has been a registered Charity since 1987 and took over the responsibility for providing the above mentioned service on March 1st 2014

Village Care is run entirely by volunteers and we always welcome more help. How you can help some people feel able to regularly commit to one of our activities. If you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer please contact us on one of the telephone numbers below.

Funding VILLAGE CARE is supported financially by local Parish Councils by fundraising and by individual donations. However we run our services at a loss and therefore they all need to be subsidised. We are constantly needing to fundraise and are always looking for sponsors and donations. If you would like to make a donation or can offer us any other form of support please contact us or leave your contributions in our donation box in Aldborough Surgery.

Village Care provides a number of services to the residents of our local parishes - Aldborough, Thurgarton, Sustead, Erpingham and Calthorpe, Wickmere, Alby and Thwaite and Hanworth and Roughton.

Transport Scheme
For many years VILLAGE CARE has provided a transport service for people who need to be taken to the Surgery, medical appointments or to visit relatives in hospital or care homes and have no other means of getting there.
Sometimes transport is provided to meet ‘social needs’. The scheme is supported by voluntary donations from our passengers, from some Parish Council budgets and from small private donations. Unfortunately the current income from these sources no longer covers the rising costs of running the scheme. VILLAGE CARE is committed to
fundraising so as to continue to run the transport scheme.

To arrange a lift please contact  Michael Gandy on 01263 570097

For general enquiries please contact Jane Maguire on 01263 761578

Village Lunch
Most Tuesdays at 12.30pm a two course cooked meal is provided to anyone living in and around Aldborough. The lunch takes place at Aldborough Community Centre and about 40 people attend every week. The lunch is cooked, served and washed up by volunteers. Some of the people attending are brought by volunteer drivers.
Meals can be delivered to people who are unable to get to the lunch if they live near to the Community Centre. For all enquiries please contact Elaine Hayton on 01263 768059

Volunteering
If you are interested in volunteering with Village Care, please contact us. We are always looking for people with their own car who could help with our Transport Scheme or help with serving and washing up at our regular
Tuesday Lunch Club. If you feel you have other skills which could be of use to the work of the committee, please contact us or call Maxine or Alison for an informal chat.
